Science ROCKS!

After recess, it was time for science. "OK class time for science!" announced Mrs. J. Before Mrs. J said anymore,Oscar said excitedly..."LOOK WHAT I FOUND! IT'S A ROCK WITH A PICTURE OF A FROG! IT'S CALLED AN OSCAROCK!"

Mrs.J looked closely at Oscar's rock in amazement. Then she said "No Oscar, that's shale,shale is a sedimentary rock, and no, that's not a photo, it's a fossil." Oscar was confused. "What is a sedimentary rock?"  "It's a rock made from bit's of rocks pressed together." Mrs.J answered. "What's a fossil?" Oscar asked. "An impression in a rock that shows an animal or plant that lived thousands of years ago. Now have you ever heard of an igneous rock? Igneous means fire made. It is made of lava."
 "LAVA!!! AHHHH! HELP! HELP! " Oscar began running around the classroom,panicking, "OH DEAR! THERE'S VOLCANOES HERE! WE'RE GOING TO MELT IN ONE SECOND!" He was so upset that he burst into tears! WAAAAAAAAA.....WHOOOOOOO.....WAAAAAAAHAAAAAAH...... WHOOOOOOO....."THERE'S VOLCANOES HERE! I'M SCARED!" Then Oscar cried harder and louder!
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
"Calm down, Oscar!" said Mrs. J. "There are no volcanoes here where we live!"
 Finally Oscar calmed down and went back to his seat. "Class? have you ever seen a metamorphic rock? A metamorphic rock is formed by heat and pressure." Just then Mrs. J noticed Oscar squeezing his rock. "Oscar, what are you doing now?!" Mrs. J asked Oscar in exasperation. "My paws....oops! I mean hands are warm and I'm squeezing my rock to change it to an oscarock." "I'm sorry Oscar," Mrs. j said. " But oscarocks don't exist."
 Oscar was really really disappointed...SNIFF! HICCUP! SNIFF! HICCUP! He was trying not cry... "Oscar don't be upset...you found a fossil! That is really cool...and very rare." The girl beside him tried to make him feel better. "It is?" Oscar sniffed. "Sure." That's right it is....."I FOUND A FOSSIL...I FOUND A FOSSIL...I FOUND A FOSSIL...I HAVE GO TELL THE REST OF THE SCHOOL!!!!!" Oscar yelled as he ran out the door and down the hall. "WAIT.....COME BACK!" Mrs. J yelled as she took off after Oscar.
